These hands-on skill-building workshops will be offered each quarter (same workshop each time, so just sign up for one).  Through participating in a workshop, students will learn to:

  • Build interprofessional relationships with other students and professionals with the goal of finding common interests, and unique strengths and roles that each profession brings to community organizing
  • Engage public officials and community leaders on topics of equity centered policy development to improve health and wellness of the community
  • Engage in universals of community organizing such as identifying shared self-interests, understanding power and how to build it, building leaders, effective meetings, and reflection
  • Recognizing health professionals’ responsibility to engage in policy evaluation and improvement

The workshops were developed by student leaders from Health Equity Circle and the community organization Sound Alliance.
