Director of Clinical Learning
Karen McDonough, M.D., is a board certified physician at the Medicine Consult and Pre-Op Clinic at UW Medical Center and a UW associate professor of General Internal Medicine.
Dr. McDonough sees patients with medical problems undergoing surgery and cares for patients hospitalized on the medicine service. She enjoys working with patients as they navigate a hospitalization, whether for surgery or an acute illness. She appreciates the opportunity to coordinate their care with their other physicians and member of the larger healthcare team.
Dr. McDonough earned her M.D. at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Her primary focus is medical education. She directs the second year medical students course in clinical skills, which includes communication with patients, physical exam and diagnostic reasoning.
