Kami Shabaz is a dedicated registered nurse with over five years of diverse experience in the healthcare field. She currently serves as the Administrator for the Office of Student and Academic Affairs at the UW School of Nursing. Kami is focused on improving healthcare systems through advancing nursing knowledge and education. Her career has included work as a bedside cardiovascular nurse before moving on to a family medicine clinic. Recently, as a nurse referral manager, she specialized in patient care coordination and utilization management.
Kami’s commitment to improving healthcare extends beyond the hospital walls. While living overseas in Japan, she served as the director of the Red Cross hospital volunteer program on Okinawa. In this role, she was a strong advocate for enhancing the quality of care and expanding access by supporting the hiring of military spouses who were healthcare professionals. She worked closely with hospital board members to improve both medical and administrative processes.
A passionate advocate for the well-being of healthcare workers, Kami has dedicated much of her career to promoting self-care among her peers. Her work continues to focus on creating a healthier, more supportive environment for those who care for others.
