Web Information Specialist and e-Learning Instructional Designer

Laurel earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Washington and worked for several years in biotech/biopharmaceutical research and development in Seattle and the Bay Area before receiving her Associate Degree in Nursing from Shoreline Community College. She worked as a staff RN for Swedish Medical Center and a privately owned OB-GYN practice before joining the CHSIE team. Inspired by the challenges of working with colleagues of different health care professions, Laurel joined CHSIE in 2013 to support interprofessional education and collaborative practice research and training initiatives. She believes that mutual respect, understanding and open communication between health care team members are vital for the safety and well-being of health care professionals as well as the patients and families they care for.

“I love working with the faculty, staff and students at the UW and am inspired by their energy, creativity and commitment. I am truly fortunate to work with such a great team at CHSIE. It has been so exciting to see our IPE programs and collaborative practice opportunities grow over the last several years. I can’t wait to see where we go next!”
